Barb Smith
Senior Consultant
Barb joined Spero & Company Consultants in
2007. She brings 19 years of extensive facilitation, organizational
development and training experience to her clients with a track record
of producing creative, on-target results. Barb’s broad base of
expertise, enthusiasm, engaging facilitation style and collaborative
approach helps clients uncover issues and implement integrated solutions
to strengthen their organization’s future.
Barb’s strong
background includes work as both an internal and external consultant.
While manager of Organizational Change for a joint venture of Shell
and Texaco, Barb served on and coached the executive leadership team,
as well as facilitated the creation of strategies, structures and culture
for the new company. Prior to that, as a training and human resources
manager Barb worked with groups of 5 to 500 to design and facilitate
hundreds of successful leadership programs, professional and technical
training programs; meetings, conferences and retreats; and organization
effectiveness improvements. In her current work as an external consultant,
Barb collaborates with leaders of diverse organizations in the areas
of strategic planning, process redesign/improvement, organizational
change, and training.
Barb earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology
at Iowa State University and her Master’s Degree in Industrial/Organizational
Psychology at the University of Nebraska. Barb is the 2007 President
for the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Society of Training
and Development, as well as an active member of the International
Society of Performance Improvement and the Society for Human Resources
Management. She currently lives in Clear Creek County, and spent
the first part of her life residing in small towns in Iowa and Nebraska.
